Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Section titled “Privacy Policy”This privacy policy applies to the GivLocal mobile application and any related services operated by Thomserve Business Analysis Solutions LTD (the “Service Provider”).
What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
Section titled “What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?”The Application does not collect, log, or store personal information when you download and use it. Registration is not required. GivLocal communicates directly with your GivEnergy hardware over your own local network (or, if you choose to set it up, over Tailscale or a port-forwarded connection) - this traffic does not pass through, or get collected by, the Service Provider.
The Application maintains an internal debug log on your device for troubleshooting. This log may include local network details, such as the IP address of your own inverter or gateway on your home network. The debug log is stored only on your device and is never transmitted automatically - it is only shared if you deliberately choose to export or send it (for example, when reporting a bug), and only with whoever you choose to send it to.
Cross-platform licence sharing
Section titled “Cross-platform licence sharing”GivLocal Pro and Installer purchases can optionally be shared between your own devices without paying twice - see Cross-Platform Sharing. If you use this feature, the Application sends a randomly generated device identifier and proof of your purchase (a signed transaction receipt from the App Store, or a purchase token from Google Play) to GivLocal’s licence server, which verifies the purchase and issues or redeems a short code. No personal information - such as your name, email address, or account details - is collected or transmitted as part of this process, and this feature does not need to be used at all if you’d rather not share data with the licence server.
Does the Application collect precise real-time location information?
Section titled “Does the Application collect precise real-time location information?”No. The Application does not collect precise information about the location of your device.
Why does the Application request Location permission?
Section titled “Why does the Application request Location permission?”If you enable Automatic Switching (see Automatic Wi-Fi Switching), the Application requests Location permission (on newer versions of Android, the Nearby Wi-Fi Devices permission may be used instead). This is required by iOS and Android to read the name of the Wi-Fi network your device is currently connected to. It is used only to detect your current Wi-Fi network name, so GivLocal can connect to your inverter directly when you’re on a known home network and via Tailscale otherwise. Precise location or GPS data is never accessed, stored, or transmitted. If you do not use Automatic Switching, this permission is never requested.
Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the
Section titled “Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the”Application?
Since the Application does not collect personal information through normal use, no personal data is shared with third parties as part of the application’s operation.
What are my opt-out rights?
Section titled “What are my opt-out rights?”Because the Application does not collect personal information during normal use, uninstalling the app removes it from your device and effectively opts you out of any application behaviour.
Contact and voluntarily provided information
Section titled “Contact and voluntarily provided information”If you contact the Service Provider directly or voluntarily provide information by other means, you may request deletion of that information by emailing support@givlocal.app.
Children
Section titled “Children”The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age (or such higher age as required by applicable law). The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit or collect personal data from children using the Application. If a child under 16 (or the applicable age) has voluntarily provided personal information by other means, a parent or guardian must provide consent where required by law.
Security
Section titled “Security”Because the Application does not collect personal data through normal use, the risk of personal data exposure is minimal. However, no security system is completely secure. The Service Provider implements reasonable safeguards to protect systems and any data it holds.
Data Breach Notification
Section titled “Data Breach Notification”Since the Application does not collect personal data through normal use, the risk of a data breach affecting your personal data is low. If a breach occurs involving any data you have voluntarily provided, the Service Provider will notify you as required by applicable law.
Changes
Section titled “Changes”The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted with an effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect. Previous versions are available on request by contacting the Service Provider at support@givlocal.app.
Effective date: 01/06/2026
Your Consent
Section titled “Your Consent”If you voluntarily provide information to the Service Provider and processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
Contact Us
Section titled “Contact Us”If you have questions about privacy while using the Application, or about these practices, contact the Service Provider at support@givlocal.app.
